Bishop Kurt has appointed Timothy Keller as Temporal Administrator of Holy Ghost Church effective February 26, 2024. As of that date, Father John Cigan was officially retired however Father John will continue to be the sacramental and liturgical pastor until June 1, 2024. We are so grateful for his continued service to our beloved parish and we pray for good health in his retirement.
As of March 9, Fr. Roman Vasylynka will celebrate weekly Divine Liturgy at St. John's at 4 p.m. every Saturday. Until further notice, there will be no service on Sundays.
On February 24, 2022, the world witnessed the horrific and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
Please pray for our Ukrainian brothers and sisters and remember kindly our priests and religious who have family in the Ukraine. Many prayers have been posted on our Facebook page and we welcome you to visit and to join us in prayer.
To donate directly to the needs of the Ukranian people, visit the website of St. Vladimir's Ukranian Catholic church at https://stvladimirscranton.org.
Also pray for peace in the Middle East and for the victims of war and crimes against humanity there.
Important Notes: We apologize for any inconvenience but we no longer livestream our church services. We feel that it is important for us to gather as a parish, if you are able. We invite all those who prayed with us online to join us in person; you are always welcome. The Choir Loft at Holy Ghost Church is open to Choir members only. Thank you for your continued cooperation with this.
Just as prior to the pandemic, anyone is relieved of the obligation to participate at Sunday Liturgy for a serious reason such as sickness, immobility, fear, caring for someone else. ***********************************************************************************************
We are so VERY GRATEFUL for the generous support shown to our parish family and friends, even during the pandemic. At this time, we are unable to accept contributions online so we are asking our parishioners to please mail your contributions to the Rectory Office at 313 First Avenue in Jessup, PA 18434 if you are unable or reluctant to attend Divine Liturgy in person.
Again, thank you for your generosity in supporting Holy Ghost and St. John's Parishes.
Slava Iisusu Christu! Glory to Jesus, the Christ! Slava vo v'iki Bohu! Glory forever to God!
Eastern Catholic Formation/ECF: Religious Education Classes
Please take this obligation seriously and put your child's religious education BEFORE all other activities. ECF not only teaches our children how to become closer to God through prayer, service, and knowledge, but it also teaches them what it is to be an Eastern Rite Catholic, and the beautiful traditions of the Byzantine Catholic Church. We welcome the opportunity to teach your child about his or her faith, and the ways of our beautiful Rite. Please know that we plan to hold in-person ECF classes in the fall. Please contact our DRE, Joyce Covaleski or our pastor, Fr. John Cigan with any questions at [email protected].
